Health & Care
Your Puppies health and care starts with our moms and dads..their history, health and care we give them and then care of your little one. We start with the parents...researching pedigrees/health 6 generations back... HEALTH ~ TEMPERAMENT ~ CONFORMATION
~ Our daughter socializing/playing with puppies ~Lots of cuddle time ~ Yum...top quality holistic kibble
~My husband with little Bouncer
Bringing your small yorkie puppy home is like bringing a tiny newborn human home.
Yorkie puppies even at 16 weeks have very small bodies....their immune systems are still developing along with muscles & tendons, digestion issues are different then adults, stress levels are more touchy.
They should not be left along for long periods of time. Because of their size and age things can go wrong very fast and can be life threatening.

2 TO 3.5 POUND YORKIES Some call... TEACUP, MICRO, PURSE SIZE!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION NOT ALL BREEDERS WILL TELL YOU!
~ Copper 4.7lbs. & a tennis ball. Our Cricket & Sonny have even smaller heads!
Risk of Juvenile Hypoglycemia [LIFE THREATENING] much greater up to 5 mo. of age.
Head - legs - bones - organs - teeth - nails - brain.... everything is VERY SMALL!!
Can have health issues. Can be much more sensitive to eating issues.
Baby teeth often need to extracted. More often Vet dental cleaning.
TO DO SURGERY: on such small bodies is extremely expensive, often requires specialists and sometimes they are unable to operate. There is much risk with surgeries and anesthetic.
TAKING ON A VERY SMALL YORKIE IS A VERY BIG COMMITMENT!
GO WITH A VERY GOOD BREEDER. MAKE SURE THAT BREEDER DOES VERY GOOD GENETIC BREEDING.
BREEDER SHOULD KEEP UNDER 4 POUND PUPPIES A MINIMUM 16 WEEKS...minimizing any health risks and eating issues ....and building up their tiny immune systems to the highest level possible.

Sophie 6- 3/4 lbs. broke two bones in her leg. Her parents had surgery. It was successful, but cost a lot of money! The doctor was glad she was not any smaller! A smaller dog with same breaks or fractures, many times will not heal properly. Sophie~
"Toy breeds are prone to fractures and the very tiny dogs are even more so". "The tinier the mouth the more need of yearly teeth cleanings...plaque & tarter build up" ~Doctor Fuller DVM
"People should not breed the tiny tiny dogs...they are so small boned and fragile" ~Joan a well respected gentle groomer with many years experience.
"We like that Danny is a bigger Yorkie (8 lb.),a lot of muscle and very hardy ...you couldn't of given us a more perfect puppy, Utahna!!! We are so grateful. He loves to go on runs with us, too. ~Erin
Several families that have had small and larger yorkies prefer the larger because they are less fragile, so much more healthier and do not require so as much protection.
~Adorable little Sheba above is only 3.4 lbs. {our smallest dog}. Her mom is very careful with her... teaching her not to jump, watching her very closely, uses recommended holistic Puppy Stress Drops even as an adult, seeing that she gets plenty of exercise & not carrying her all the time...so that she builds strong bones, trains her limits/rules and monitors her eating/drinking. Getting 4lb. CJ first made it much easier. Because of medical limits of lifting under 5 lbs., Karen wanted to get yorkies that were very small. Her husband and her are retired and are always with them. Sheba and CJ have excellent Veterinarians that specialize in toy size dogs that are very small. Karen grooms both and feeds excellent kibble and treats. "AWESOME PARENTS!Thank you both for giving our smallest girl Sheba and very special Copper Junior such a warm loving home." ~Utahna
Puppies will sleep 80% of the time. Care must be taken to prevent a Collapsed Trachea.
Any changes in food, environment or exercise must be slow!
Puppies need to be kept in a warm environment with no extreme temp. changes.
Care must be taken that they do not get Juvenile Hypoglycemic episodes.
Crate training is important: It give them their own safe place and is great for when you travel with them, knowing they are safe and secure. Dogs are like wolves and like their dens! Emma & Lady Belle napping in their crates~
Safety is a very big issue and we give you much information on this to prepare your home and little ones environment. Much care needs to be taken against jumping off furniture, running down stairs, etc.! Luxating Kneecaps is a toy breed issue and very expensive to fix.
Yorkies have been known to have sensitive stomachs...in our kit we give a holistic product to help stimulate appetite with ingredients to help prevent Hypoglycemic episodes.
More then likely they will require baby teeth removed to make room for adult teeth...we will give you information to help make this go more smoother.
"Thank you to Danny's parents for this great picture". ~utahna
Yorkies need grooming...nail cutting, daily brushing & washing face. We start very early with gentle grooming your puppy to help make their grooming experiences easy & less stressful.
~Emma - long hair ~Isabelle - scissor cut ~Isabelle - short puppy cut
Not only do we give a "Puppy Kit" to our new parents that includes much more information on health, our recommendations for the care of their puppy and useful items to make the transition to their new home as easy as possible... ....we remain available to serve as a resource, advise and support for typical problems encountered in raising, training and caring for your little yorkie.
